Le Parfum des Bois is a small shop in Langogne, France. The Tour will be going through town on stage 12 from Bourg de Peage to Mende. Mr. Pellegrini sells a type of dried mushrooms that are fantastic. We received a small gift packet many years ago with some free samples. They sat in my closet for a couple of years before I finally tried them. The following summer I had to make a special side trip to Langogne just to find these mushrooms and bought a couple of big packages of them to bring home. I've run out so I think I'll have to speed ahead of the race so I'll have time to stop by. They're the secret ingredient in a lot of cooking! |

Nestle’s Quick is one of the corporate sponsors of the race. They have some vehicles in the publicity caravan. In between talking about the race action, the announcers make some plugs for the sponsors. One of the announcers apparently doesn’t understand any English. While speaking about the product, he said “Allez tout le monde pour un quickie” which translates “Everybody go have a quickie”! I had to keep from laughing out loud! Several days later I had the opportunity to catch up with him and explained what that means in English. Apparently he didn’t understand me, because a day or two later I heard him again “Allez pour un quickie”! |
