It’s Official!
The Tour of Colorado will take place August 2011. Lance Armstrong was in Denver today alongside Governor Bill Ritter to announce the race. The inaugural race will start and finish in Denver. The rest of the route will be announced in a couple of months. The dates are also still under consideration but we do know that it will be a week long. Quizno’s is the primary sponsor. A spokeswoman for Quizno’s said they saw so many people in lycra in their restaurants, they decided cycling would be a great way to go for them.
The race will be somewhat modeled on the old Coors Classic. Old names from that era were on hand, including Davis Phinney, Connie Carpenter-Phinney, Ron Kiefel and Michael Aisner.
Governor Ritter, along with a few hundred people rode around Denver with Lance after the press conference.
