Today saw one breakaway on the road from Avon to Steamboat Springs. The small group was caught by the peloton easily and the race ended in a sprint finish in Steamboat Springs. It wasn’t possible to shoot along the course and make it to the finish. Thousands of people lined the finish area to watch the race come in and they’re already talking about next year!
Elia Viviani of Liquigas won the sprint at the finish.
Viviani has won 6 times in races including in Slovenia, Mumbai and Stressa in Italy.
Prior to the Pro Challenge coming into town, US Hand Cyclists raced on the streets of Steamboat and received their awards.
