Cool start to the race this morning in Breckenridge. Nine riders made a break which shrunk to 7 after cresting Hoosier Pass. The break included Zaugg, Nibali, Firsanov, Santaromita, Jones and Nepomnyachshiy. It rained a little along the course but that held off for the most part until the awards podium. The 5 minute gap was eaten up by the peloton by the time they reached Garden of the Gods, just outside Colorado Springs. It was a bunch sprint at the finish line in Colorado Springs after 3 laps of the downtown circuit. Tyler Farrar took the sprint and Tejay VanGarderen kept the yellow jersey.
