Team Jumbo-Visma’s Danny Van Poppel finished third in Santos Tour Down Under’s stage 5, 149,5 km from Glenelg to Strathalbyn (Australia) on Saturday, January 19th. The Dutchman scored the first podium for Team Jumbo-Vista under the new naming. Equipped with Oltre XR4, the 25-year-old rider from Utrecht was preceded by Belgian Jasper Philipsen and Slovak Peter Sagan in the bunch sprint.
In 2018 Van Poppel had been the first rider of the Bianchi-equipped World Tour team (Team LottoNL-Jumbo at that time) to take a podium spot, topping Vuelta a la Comunitat Valenciana’s opener at the end of January.
