The Denver Post published an article today about the potential effect of the USADA scandal on Armstrong’s cancer efforts.
In 2006 his foundation did a five year grant of nearly $2 million to the University of Colorado Cancer Center. There are 8 cancer centers in the US that receive funding from the Livestrong Survivorship Center. CU gets $220,000 annually.
There were quarter of a million dollar grants given to cancer centers in Pueblo, Grand Junction and Denver to help fund them. The directors are hoping that the doping news will continue to be separate from the cancer world. One director believes Lance works to make the “world a better place” and her career helping other cancer survivors came as a direct result of Lance’s efforts and his financial support.
