Thursday, 25th June 2020 – Slovenian riders will not have much time to rest these days – after the National Road Championship, which was held last Sunday, a new challenge is ahead. Slovenian National Time Trial will be held this Sunday, 28th of June, and three of Bahrain McLaren riders will be on the start line.
After eight years of having the National Time Trial near the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, on mostly flat terrain, this will be the first mountain version of the trial and Jan Tratnik, Grega Bole, and Domen Novak from Bahrain McLaren are certainly looking forward to it. The race will be held on Pokljuka, a 20 km long and 18 km wide alpine plateau located in the Triglav National Park between the famous Slovenian tourist destinations, Bled and Bohinj. It is covered with pine tree forests and pastures and spans on the altitude which ranges from 1100 to 1400 m above the sea level.
The start of the race will be in Zgornje Gornje and the finish 15,7 kilometers away, in Rudno Polje. Through the course, the riders will have to conquer 721 m of altitude.
Jan Tratnik is aware that this challenge will be a hard one but is also very excited about the race: “This year the National Time Trial will be very different from previous years. It will be a mountain time trial and therefore much harder. The competition will be extremely hard, with Roglič and Pogačar, two of the best climbers, on the start line. But I am not stressing about that, I am heading to the National Time Trial highly motivated and I aim for the best possible result. I am in very good shape, I also feel very well and cannot wait for Sunday to come.”
The whole Team Bahrain McLaren is looking forward to seeing our Slovenian riders on the Slovenian National Time Trial and we are certain in their excellent performance.
