It’s been reported that the Giro del Piedmonte, a race that has been taking place in the Lombardia region of northern Italy since 1906 has been cancelled this year because of economic difficulties. The race had been scheduled for October 4. The race was suspended in 2007 but was able to continue from 2008-2012.
“The international economic situation and, in particular the Italian one, has put many sporting events, including the Gran Piemonte, in serious difficulty,” said RCS Sport.”
The Giro di Lombardia, which takes place October 6 will still occur as well as the Milano-Torino race earlier in the same week.
