This year, Citizen Pictures once again filmed the Leadville Trail 100 – capturing
the energy, excitement, drama, human spirit, and inspiring stories of the race.
The film will debut for a special one-night-only viewing in theaters across the
USA on November 4th 2010 with an encore presentation on November 9th in
520 theaters across the country.
The 2010 Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race features elite professional and
amateur cyclists and runners braving 14,000 feet of altitude, extreme weather
and grueling terrain. The race has been described as “stupid hard,” began 27
years ago as a running race as a vehicle to drive tourism to Leadville. It has
since grown to a lottery cap of 1000+ competitors, many of them the world’s
most elite cyclists. A clock set for 12 grueling hours slugs through 100 miles,
over 14,000 vertical feet of climbing, some two miles above sea level, through
extreme climate changes ranging from heat to hail, from rain to snow. To the
racers, the risks of injury, fatigue and mechanical failure pale next to the chance
that they will fall behind the 12 hour cut off mark and be eliminated.
