2011 UPCC Stage 3 Vail Time Trial

After a two hour transfer from Aspen, today’s race took place in Vail, Colorado.  The time trial followed a large part of the 1987 Coors Classic Time Trial.  It was ten miles long and finished at nearly 10,000′.  Hundreds of fans lined the route, especially the last couple of miles up the climb to the finish.

Van Garderen lost the yellow jersey to Levi Leipheimer who reclaimed it after posting the best time in the time trial.
