The next Tour of Flanders will be run without the legendary Mur de Grammont.  It’s been shocking to Belgian cycling fans as it’s their most celebrated climb.  The historic Bosberg will also be eliminated in 2012.

The head of the race, Wim Van Herreweghe, has had to defend his decision.  He said there are three big climbs in the last 75 km with the Vieux Quaremont and the Paterberg, not to mention the Hoogberg, the Kruisberg and the Koppenberg. The Grammont is usually a decisive point in the race.  The Paterberg is 13k from the finish and will be the last climb.
