The Women are Also Racing in Belgium

The season may have kicked off in Qatar at the beginning of February, but this weekend will see Specialized-Lululemon commence in the first European race of 2012, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

With a light wind, sunshine and 8ᵒc as a weather forecast this Saturday, it’s not the typical cold, wet and windy classics conditions. However with 25 teams going over 7 climbs and plenty of cobblestones, it’s likely to be an exciting race!

The team will line up with Chloe Hosking, Ellen van Dijk, Emilia Fahlin, Katie Colclough and Trixi Worrack. Trixi has showed good form to take 2nd place overall in Tour of Qatar a few weeks ago and Chloe has already taken her first win this season in the Jayco Bay Series. Ellen is no stranger to this style of racing being the sole Dutch representative of the team, so the girls will have plenty of cards to play. The team will aim to build on this positive start and show that they are ready for this important year ahead.

After Saturday the team will stay in Belgium and hit they’re next race on the Wednesday, GP Samyn. It’s a new race on the women’s calendar so will be an interesting new challenge for the peloton. Again with some cobbles thrown into the action, it should be another exciting race to get the European season underway.
