What a day for us at Critérium du Dauphiné stage 4 today! It has been a 🥇🥈 for us with Alexey Lutsenko on the top of the podium and teammate Ion Izagirre taking second!
Roche-la-Molière, Wednesday, June 2nd 2021 – Alexey Lutsenko displayed the full array of his qualities to win the 4th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, on a 16.4km time-trial over rolling terrain between Firminy and Roche-La-Molière. Geraint Thomas started much better, but the Kazakh made the difference over the more difficult second part of the route to win, with a lead of 8’’ over his teammate Izagirre, who has put himself in an excellent position for the challenges to be tackled in the mountains this weekend. Lukas Pöstlberger also impressed, only conceding 23’’ at the finish, as did Thomas. The Austrian keeps hold of the Yellow and Blue Jersey by just one second!
“It was incredibly hard. I paced it perfectly for my possibility. To keep the jersey for 1’’, that close, it’s amazing. I’m gonna make a family of lions for my son! Tomorrow is gonna be a different story, with the whole team involved again. When there is a proper GC battle, I know I will lose my jersey at some point.”
