The 2013 Tour de France route has not yet been announced but leaks about the route have been rumbling around. The race is starting in Corsica where there will be three stages. It then will come back to the mainland with a team time trial in Nice. It’s rumored that Mont Ventoux will be climbed this year as well as Alpe d’Huez twice.
This will be the 100th edition of the Tour de France so we’re hoping for lots of celebrations.
Corsica has never been part of the Tour in the whole 100 years. The first stage is rumored to go from Porto Vecchio to Bastia on the south side of the island via the cliffs near Bonifacio. It’s a primarily flat stage. Stage 2 is expected to be hilly and go from Bastia through Corte and finish in Ajaccio. Climbs on this day are most likely the Col de Bellagranajo, Col de la Serra, Col de Vizzavona and Monte Salario. The third stage is from Ajaccio to Calvi and also lots of climbing. It will run along the west coast that has great views including Piana. Some of the climbs could be the Col de San Bastiano, Col de Lava, Col de Palmarella and Col de Marsolino.
The full route is to be announced on October 24.
