Tomorrow evening, Wednesday 22 December, Theo Bos will ride his very last race in his cycling career. The five-time world champion takes on six challengers from cycling in the Keirin Sprint Night of the BEAT x Zwift Series. These challengers are Jason Kenny, Sam Ligtlee, Jos van Emden, Tomáš Bábek, Tim Veldt and Joe Truman.
For Bos it is his last appearance in his active career as a cyclist. The five-time world champion will compete on Zwift in a virtual keirin against the six others who are at the start. Bos became world champion on the keirin in 2006, became Dutch champion five times and participated several times in the major keirin competitions in Japan.
Before the keirin, Bos will first participate in the ‘social ride’ with the participants from the BEAT community. This ride starts at 7:30 PM. Finally, the grand finale is scheduled, which will start around 8:30 PM. Last season it was Jeffrey Hoogland who was the fastest, ahead of Danny van Poppel and Matthijs Büchli. The then world champion BMX Twan van Gendt and Shintaro Sato, winner of the Keirin Grand Prix in Japan, were also at the start.
The event will be held on Zwift. This platform offers more and more opportunities to get big names together in similar events. This is also a perfect opportunity for amateur cyclists to compete at their own level or to cycle together with the real toppers. For BEAT, eRacing has an important place, as a result of which there are multiple eRacing teams and the BEAT x Zwift Series are organized every year.
