Weimar, Wednesday, August 24th 2022 – Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) is the winner of the prologue of the Deutschland Tour 2022 in Weimar. Without any time trial equipment the ITT world champion from Italy only needed 2.56,89 minutes to complete the 2.6 kilometers through the technical undemanding city course with its six curves. Bauke Mollema (Trek – Segafredo) finished second round about two seconds behind, Nils Politt (Bora – hansgrohe) took the 3rd place with another second behind.
With the stage win Ganna also gained the Red jersey for the overall leader and the Green one for the best rider in the Points Classification, on the 1st stage vicarious worn by Mollema. Olav Kooij (Jumbo – Visma), who was fastest at the split time after 1.6 kilometers, got the Blue jersey for the King of the Mountain. The first White jersey for the best Young Rider sits on the shoulders of Mick van Dijke (Jumbo – Visma).
