RCS Sport and Alpecin proudly introduce the Giro Day Germany, a new and unique fan experience. The organizer of the Giro d’Italia cooperates with shampoo manufacturer Alpecin, while Team Giant-Alpecin will attend the event with riders and staff.
The brand-new concept sees its start in Bielefeld (DE) at a historic location on Sunday May 8, the day of stage three of the Giro d’Italia. Offering an active cycling experience, RCS Sport and the Alpecin aim to share the beauty of the sport in an atmosphere of the Italian Grand Tour. Being part of the WorldTour and riding under German licence, Team Giant-Alpecin joins, targeting to fundamentally contribute to the development of the sport of cycling in Germany, as well as inspire the German people to continue or start riding their bikes.
“In Germany a lot of people ride their bikes and we are proud to connect these people in an active way with the Giro Day Germany,” said RCS Sport general director Paolo Bellino (ITA). “With this prestigious event we will aim to offer the fans a great experience with a touch of the Giro d’Italia flavour. One of RCS sport’s objectives is to spread our love for cycling all over the world. This event fits perfectly and we are proud to cooperate with Alpecin and have the German WorldTour team Team Giant-Alpecin present.”
The Giro Day Germany employs a different way of engaging fans with the sport in a country where cycling had a rich history in terms of popularity and heroes. One of Team Giant-Alpecin’s riders who is present at the Giro Day Germany will be Simon Geschke (GER), he added: “As a team we want to contribute to the overall development of cycling in Germany. The aim of our presence at this nice initiative of RCS Sport and Alpecin, the Giro Day Germany, is to promote the sport in its broadest sense and we feel pleased to contribute to that, offering the German cycling fans an experience they will not forget.”
