Roglic Close to Pink Jersey in Opening Prologue

Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Slovenian incredibly close to breakout win with Aquila CV: only one hundredth of second behind Dumoulin

Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Slovenian Primoz Roglic went inches close to a big upset at the Giro d’Italia, finishing only one hundredth of second away of the first pink jersey in the opening 9,8-km ITT in Apeldoorn (Netherlands), on Friday, May 6th. The 26-year-old from Trbovlje was second with 11:03, practically the same time of winner Tom Dumoulin. Andrey Amador rounded-out the podium (+0:06).

Roglic’s teammates Martijn Keizer, Steven Kruijswijk and Moreno Hofland were 14th, 22nd and 24th repectively. Jos van Emden delivered a good start, but a crash affected his chances to go for a top-10 spot. On Saturday, May 7th the Bianchi-equipped Dutch team will tackle stage-2, 190 km from Arnhem to Nijmegen (Netherlands).
