The Belgian secured the GC win by placing third in the final stage, with Groenewegen runner-up
Belgian Sep Vanmarcke secured the overall win at Ster ZLM Toer GP Jan van Heeswijk, five-day stage race from Goes to Boxtel (Netherlands) ended on Sunday, June 19th. Wim Stroetinga won the final stage, 186 km starting from Someren (Netherlands), ahead of Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Dylan Groenewegen and Sep Vanmarcke.
Before Sunday’s podium, Vanmarcke had placed sixth in Goes’ opening ITT and had claimed victory in stage-4 in La Gileppe (Belgium). However, the whole Team LottoNL-Jumbo took the lion’s share in the home race, winning three out of five stages: third in the final classification, Jos Van Emden was the fastest man in the opening ITT whilst Dylan Groenewegen sprinted to win Buchten’s stage-3. Only during stage 4 none of the Dutch team’s athletes had worn the GC leader’s jersey.
