Laissac (France)- the Brit Marathon specialist finishes behind Swiss Neff.
Sally Bigham took the silver medal in the 2016 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships, in Laissac (France), on Sunday June 26th. Equipped with Northwave shoes, the 38-year-old Brit marathon specialist crossed the finish line 2’34” behind Jolanda Neff (Switzerland), while Sabrina Enaux (France) rounded out the podium 5’33” behind the winner.
Bigham managed to see off home favorites Enaux and Marcouyre after a regular start, as Neff showed her superiority in the women’s category out-distancing her opponents in the early part of a 68,8 Km-race with 2,587 overall altitude.
In the men’s race (90 Km and 3,130 vertical meters), Leonardo Paez (Colombia) grazed the bronze medal with his Northwave Extreme XC, finishing fourth 1’11” behind Tiago Ferreira (Portugal). Rounding out the podium Alban Lakata (Austria) and Kristian Hynek (Czech Republic), second and third respectively, 19” and 56” behind the winner.
