Team Saxo-Tinkoff and Steven de Jongh has entered into an agreement that the experienced Dutchman starts as sports director of the team.
39-year-old de Jongh begins his new position immediately, after having been sports director for Team Sky in the past three years.
Team owner Bjarne Riis said: “To complete our sporting setup, we have been looking for a sixth sports director for some time. Recently I was in contact with Steven, and through our conversations, I felt that he would fit well into the team. I have heard many good things about him as sports director, and he comes with a solid experience. So I am pleased to welcome him to the team and look forward to work with him. “
Steven de Jongh is looking forward to starting work at Team Saxo-Tinkoff. “I’m really happy for the opportunity to work for Team Saxo-Tinkoff and one of the strongest rider troupes in the world. After I left Team Sky, I did not know what the future would bring for me. Shortly after the New Year, I had some conversations with Bjarne and the team, and it turned into a job offer and a great opportunity for me. I very much look forward to starting a new chapter in my career as a sports director, and I am grateful for the confidence that the team has shown me.”
With de Jongh board’s Team Saxo-Tinkoff sports director group for 2013 complete and consists of Philippe Mauduit, Dan Frost, Tristan Hoffman, Fabrizio Guidi, Lars Michaelsen and Steven de Jongh.
