Marotte Claims the First Seasonal Win

Cannondale Factory Racing’s Frenchman topped the Coupe de France VTT’s opening round in Marseilles. Third place for the MTB icon Miguel Martinez. Spitz took the fourth stage win at the Absa Cape Epic in the “Grand Finale”, enhancing his third overall place

Maxime Marotte conquered his first seasonal win with Northwave in Coupe de France VTT’s opening round, in Marseilles (France), on Sunday March 26th. Equipped by the Italian brand with Extreme XC shoes, Cannondale Factory Racing’s 30-year-old rider preceded on the finish line Thomas Griot and another Northwave’s athlete, the MTB icon Miguel Martinez (Tropix Factory Racing), gold medallist in the XCO race at Sydney OG.

Further good news for Northwave from the Absa Cape Epic “Grand Finale” in South Africa, 85 km from Elgin to Val de Vie, characterized by the Franschhoek ascent. German Sabine Spitz and teammate Robyn de Groot claimed the fourth stage win, the sixth for Northwave, preceding in the final sprint pairing Mariske Strauss and Annie Last. The overall winners, Esther Suss and Jennie Stenerhag, completed the stage’s podium.

Spitz and De Groot, already winner of the opening prologue, stage 3 and stage 5, finished third in the overall standings, whilst in the men’s category, Cannondale Factory Racing’s Manuel Fumic and Henrique Avancini ended the African MTB race with two stage wins.
