The only 20-year-old Australian, Jay McCarthy embark on his first season with Team Saxo-Tinkoff will make his debut on home soil at the Tour Down Under, where he will ride with teammates Manuele Boaro, Timmy Duggan, Johnny Cantwell, Takashi Miyazawa, Christopher Juul-Jensen and Chris Anker Sørensen.

“I’m game happy to start my professional career on such a good team, and I know that the team here can do most of my development as a rider .. What are your ambitions for 2013?
“I must first and foremost have adjusted my level from U23 to World Tour level, and then I just learn as much as possible from my teammates and help where I can. “
What is your goal in Tour Down Under?
“Actually I drove TDU last year with the Australian national team. It’s a great race and I hope only that my form is good enough so I can take my tow for the team. Racing at home is always something special, but especially when it takes place in Team Saxo-Tinkoff-clothes. “
