Finally, Bernard Hinault has publicly commented on the Lance Armstrong saga and doping in cycling while in Australia for the Tour Down Under. Hinault won the Tour de France 5 times.
He said “Lance Armstrong is not the first (cyclist) to have hurt cycling. We must fight against this problem. There is a lot of talk about cycling, but why not the other sports? The day when all sports are treated the same way, we will not be the black sheep. There are problems in every sport, but it’s cycling that’s scratched. International federation should work the same way in carrying out controls in every sport.”
