The ascent covered in Tour of the Alps’ final stage now included in the list of Trentino’s greatest climbs in memory of the Italian champion untimely passed away in April, again in the spotlights on the occasion of the “Leggendaria Charly Gaul”
Just over two months after the exciting finale of Tour of the Alps (formerly Giro del Trentino pro stage race), cycling returns on the Monte Bondone slopes once again on the occasion of “Leggendaria Charly Gaul” cyclosportive, gathering thousands of cyclists along the iconic ascent.
The stretch between Lasino and Vason, the one tackled by the Tour of the Alps peloton in April, has been included in the number of Trentino’s greatest climbs to honor the memory of Michele Scarponi, the unlucky Italian champion untimely passed away last April 22nd in a car crash, the day after he had concluded the Tour of the Alps.
Since Monte Bondone was the very last mountain tackled by Scarponi, the “Leggendaria Charly Gaul” offered the opportunity to permanently link the name of the rider to one of the most beloved ascents.
The initiative will be followed by an official ceremony during the 2018 Tour of the Alps vernissage next autumn.
