Federation Francaise de Cyclisme (FFC) President David Lappartient held a press conference on the topic of the Operation Puerto trial. He was quoted as saying “The process Puerto is a veritable farce.”
There is a vast blood doping network organized by Fuentes. There’s the appearance of protection going on. “One of the accused is ready to give the names but no one asks him. It’s a veritable face; there isn’t another word for it. What good is a trial? It seems like Spanish authorities want to protect the soccer players, tennis players..It shows it’s not just cyclists. There were without doubt protections in high places, including the state. I hope the blood bags will be transferred to the AMA (Agence Mondiale Antidopage) where one can establish the connections.”
It’s been a week since the trial started and the Spanish justice has refused to ask Dr. Fuentes to identify who the blood bags belong to.
