In Berlin, the 21-year-old athlete clinched the gold medal in the continental event.
Filippo Ganna (Italy) claimed the gold medal in the Individual Pursuit at the 2017 Track European Championships, in Berlin on Saturday October 21st.
Equipped with Northwave Extreme RR shoes, he clocked 4:15.994 and won the Continental title beating in the final Portoguese Ivo Oliveira, while German Dominic Weinstein took the bronze medal.
As usually, the Team UAE Emirates rider had a slow start followed by an impressive acceleration in the second half of the race, overwhelming his opponent by over two seconds. In the qualification round, Ganna clocked 4:14.914.
In the German event, Ganna confirmed himself as a top-class rider on track, after the silver medal grabbed in the Team Pursuit – characterized by the medals of two more Northwave riders, Simone Consonni and Francesco Lamon – and the World title in the Individual Pursuit conquered in London on March 2016.
