Wild claims Fourth Gold in Points Race

The 2018 UCI Track World Championships in Apeldoorn (Netherlands) gave Northwave a superb outcome consisting of four World titles – Kirsten Wild (Scratch, Omnium, Points Race) and Filippo Ganna (Individual Pursuit) – and seven medals overall – four golds, a silver (Kirsten Wild: Madison), two bronzes (Simone Consonni: Omnium and Team Pursuit. Filippo Ganna: Team Pursuit).

The fourth rainbow jersey for Northwave came from Kirsten Wild in the last race of her memorable week. The Dutch rider took advantage by totaling 49 points in the Points Race. Behind the Team Wiggle High5 athlete, US Jennifer Valente (43 points) and Canadian Jasmin Duehring (30) completed the race’s podium.

On Saturday, March 3rd, Northwave also celebrated Simone Consonni, 23, claiming the bronze medal in the Omnium challenge. First in the overall standings at the eve of the final round, the Points Race, the Italian secured the podium spot with 104 points, as Pole Szymon Sajnok (111 points) took the World title ahead of Dutchman Jan Willem van Schip (107).
