ROGLIC WINS ITZULIA BASQUE COUNTRY’S ITT AND TAKES GC LEAD

Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Slovenian clinched victory in Lodosa, Spain

Primoz Roglic claimed victory and took the GC lead at Itzulia Basque Country. Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Slovenian rode Aquila CV to win the 19,4 km ITT with start and finish in Lodosa on Thursday, April 5th clocking 22:26, 9 seconds faster than Patrick Bevin. Vasil Kyrienka (+11) rounded out the podium. The success in Lodosa pushed Roglic to the GC lead with a 34-second advantage on Julian Alaphilippe and 1:33 on Bauke Mollema.

Roglic had already grazed win in Itzulia Basque Country’s opener and stage 2, placing both times in the wake of the winner, Julian Alaphilippe.

Multi-skilled athlete (winner of the Galibier’s stage at 2017 Tour de France) and TT specialist, Roglic had already ridden to top the Giro d’Italia’s Chianti ITT and ITT Slovenian National Championships in 2016 and taking three wins in 2017 including Eibar’s ITT at Vuelta al Pais Vasco.
