Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Slovenian topped the Spanish World Tour race with a brilliant show of consistency
Primoz Roglic celebrated the overall win at Itzulia Basque Country in Spain on Saturday, April 7th. Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Slovenian managed to hold the leader’s jersey in the final stage, 122,2 km from Eibar to Arrate (Spain), placing ninth with a 1:06 from winner Enric Mas. Roglic finished the Spanish race in 20:53:47 with a 1:09 advantage on Landa himself and 1:42 on Ion Izagirre, scoring the first career overall victory in a World Tour stage race.
The 28-year-old from Trbovlje put on a brilliant show of consistency at Itzulia Basque Country, riding Oltre XR4 to second in the first, second and fifth stage – in Zarautz, Bermeo and Eibar respetively – and scoring a resounding win with Aquila CV in the stage 4 ITT with start and finish in Lodosa. Both Oltre XR4 and Aquila CV are engineered with the revolutionary Bianchi CV system using Countervail® patented carbon material. “Innovation means the possibility to use the best possible technology and the best material. Using Countervail you have better control on your bike and the opportunity to save some energy that at the end you can use when the details make the difference” Roglic explains in the first “I #RideBianchi” episode.
