Tomorrow, April 20th, on the finish line of the last stage of the Euroregional race, the bishop of Innsbruck will celebrate a moment of remembrance of the unlucky Italian rider, with Michele’s parents in attendance
Almost one full year has gone since the tragical passing of Michele Scarponi, whose life was broken by a truck who wrecked him while he was training, right on the day after coming back from the Tour of the Alps.
On the first stage of the 2017 #TotA, in Innsbruck, Michele had gotten back to success after a long draught. His joy on that day, the dedication to his wife and children, his reasons for life, are hard to forget for everybody. Tomorrow, Friday April 20th, in Innsbruck, the Tour of the Alps will dedicate a special moment to Scarponi, whose name was given to a race award (Team-Up Award – Souvenir Michele Scarponi) that rewards generosity and team spirit.
At 12.30, on the stage of the 5th and final stage of the Tour of the Alps (Rattenberg-Innsbruck, 164,2 km), in Rennweg, the bishop of Innsbruck will celebrate a moment of remembrance for the “Aquila di Filottrano”. Not a solemn celebration, but a heartfelt commemoration by the people who knew and loved Michele, including his parents who will also attend such occasion.
