Just off a positive but unlucky Giro del Trentino (due to a mechanical during the last stage, taking him out of contention for the overall win), Bradley Wiggins enjoyed an extra-day on Garda Trentino and this morning. He was again on saddle to go on recognition on uphill TT Mori-Polsa, one of forthcoming Giro d’Italia key-stages, officially presented on Thursday night at Cantina Sociale-Colli Zugna during the Giro del Trentino.
Last Tour de France winner spent a relaxing night in Torbole (at the hotel managed by Sergio Chiesa, well-known chef and cycling lover) to get over the fatigue after the steep ascent of Sega di Ala, but today he moved quite early and decided to climb by bike despite not perfect weather conditions (with just 6 degrees and haze on top). In Mori’s velodrome, Trentino Province Assessor, Tiziano Mellarini, greeted him before taking his way to the TT course. Once the ride was completed, Wiggins commented positively: “I like this stage, it’s quite fast, it fits me well”. Bradley had lunch afterwards before moving to Friuli for another inspection at Altopiano del Montasio tomorrow.
Though Giro del Trentino overall win vanished (with triumphant Vincenzo Nibali clinching an amazing victory), Sir Wiggins said himself very satisfied by his performance on the Italian soil this week, and feels upbeat looking forward to the pink race.
