Armand de las Cuevas Died Age 50

Armand de las Cuevas died at ile de la Reunion, where he had lived the past decade after retiring at age 30 from pro cycling.

He grew up in Bordeaux and raced five years with Reynolds team which became Banesto and now the Movistar team and then Castorama where he won the Giro prologue, San Sebastian and Paris-Camembert.

He won the 1991 French national title, GP Ouest France and some Paris Nice and Romandie stages. He also won at the 1998 Dauphine.

It’s been reported that he died of an apparent suicide.
