Assault on Pikes Peak

This Sunday, August 29 will be the inaugural Assault on Pikes Peak.  The city of Colorado Springs and Summit Cycling Productions will be hosting the event.  The route is 18.5 miles with 6360 feet of vertical climbing to the summit of 14,115′.   Pikes Peak Highway is usually closed to bikes but not this Sunday.  Up to 1500 people can register.  USA Cycling has sanctioned the event and participants will be given finish times even though it’s not technically a race.  Rest stops with refreshments will be stationed along the way.  Cyclists can register the morning of the event.
