Bart De Clercq out for months after heavy crash on training

The new year started badly for our new rider Bart De Clercq. Our 31-year-old climber crashed heavily on training on Tuesday. He suffers from a subcapital fracture of the left femur. Bart De Clercq was operated on Tuesday by dr. Toon Claes in AZ Herentals in Belgium.

Dr. Joost De Maeseneer (team doctor):

“The fracture is heavy and required the placement of screws in the femur. It is difficult to estimate a return in competition. Normally Bart can only resume light training in about six weeks. Returning to competition is a matter of months. “
