Beloki, Nozal and Osi Testify

Also testifying today were Joseba Beloki, Unai Osa and Benjamin Nozal.

According to Spanish newspapers, Beloki denied having a relationship with Dr. Fuentes. He said his training schedule for 2005 is not in t he documents and that when Operation Puerto first broke, he requested the cycling federation to defend him.

He said the federation was not interested and took no action. He’s unsure if he wants to do a DNA test as he’s been retired from cycling for a while. After his big crash in 2003 he had health problems.

He worked with team doctors afterwards and returned to the Liberty Seguros team in 2005 because it was like a family.

Isidro Nozal also testified.  He raced for ONCE and Liberty Seguros from 1999-2006.  He said was treated apart from the team by Fuentes in 2005 but just gave blood and didn’t do a reinfusion.  He had prepared with Dr. Fuentes in the spring of 2005 leading up the Dauphine Libere.  But then his hematocrit level was too high and he couldn’t race.  He says he neveer paid Fuentes for anything.

Unai Osa also testified that he had no relationship with Fuentes. He claims to not know what his teammates did. Documents apparently show his name for multiple years.
