Ben O’Connor celebrates on the finish line in Meran
Dimension Data’s Aussie claimes a beautiful win at the Tour of the Alps in a spectacular stagen as Thibaut Pinot takes the overall leadership after attacking from distance
Ben O’Connor (Dimension Data) soloed in a thrilling stage 3 of the Tour of the Alps (Auer/Ora – Meran-o 138,3 Km) thanks to a decisive attempt in the last kilometers. The Australian rider preceded by 5 seconds the first chasing group, led home by new overall leader Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ), second today.
Italian Domenico Pozzovivo completed the day’s podium, whilst the former leader, Colombian Ivan Ramiro Sosa (Androni Sidermec) lived a difficult day due an unfortunate crash on descent, losing the leader jersey he had conquered yesterday on Alpe di Pampeago’s finish line.
