Taylor Phinney and Greg Van Avermaet will lead the BMC Racing Team in Tuesday’s edition of Binche-Tournai-Binche, a one-day race in Belgium run last year as the “Mémorial Frank Vandenbroucke.”
Cobblestone Finish
BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Rik Verbrugghe said the pair are best suited for a sprint that will likely conclude the 200 kilometer race that finishes on a cobblestoned circuit. Phinney said he hopes to improve his speed in the final 200 to 300 meters, something the former U.S. national time trial champion said was lacking during Circuit Franco-Belge. “The harder it is all day, the better it will suit me,” Phinney said. “We have a great team, pretty much the same guys we had at Franco-Belge. They’ve been fantastic and so supportive. One day I hope to pay them back with some big results.”
