In keeping with their commitments to responsibility, authenticity, and taking action, throughout 2021 BORA – hansgrohe partnered with Outride in a series of charity auctions. BORA – hansgrohe auctioned off team jerseys around three grand tours and Paris Roubaix and raised €15,000 to support Outride’s youth programming.
Outride is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that works with schools, community partners, coaches, teams, and cyclists to promote a more equitable, inclusive, and healthy future for youth. Their mission is to make cycling more accessible to young people so that every child can experience the freedom, joy, and community that cycling can provide.
BORA – hansgrohe launched this series of charity auctions in conjunction with the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta Espana, and Paris Roubaix using the MatchWornShirt platform. As a result of this 2021 success, Outride and BORA – hansgrohe will continue their philanthropic partnership into the 2022 road season. “I’m happy to have contributed to this effort, and am pleased that the team will continue to support Outride in 2022. It’s nice to know that my sweaty jerseys have played a part in raising these funds for a good cause!” says Peter Sagan.
Outride operates three programming pillars: Research, Riding For Focus, and The Outride Fund.
One hundred percent of funds raised by Outride and its partners go directly to these youth programming and community grantmaking efforts. Outride conducts and funds research to understand better how bicycling affects our brains, how we think, and how we feel. Outride also works with over 240 schools to help students achieve academic, health, and social success. Through their Riding for Focus program, the organization provides middle schools with everything they need to get their 6th-8th grade students biking: Bikes, helmets, curriculum, and teacher training. The Outride Fund is a community grant making program that has funneled over $1.5M to over 120 youth organizations that are working to increase access to cycling as a sport and recreation.

In 2022, BORA – hansgrohe will be announcing auctions around the following events: Strade Bianche, Paris – Roubaix, Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta Espana. “We are proud to have been able to draw attention to Outride for the past few years through the stickers on our helmets and time trial bikes. And now we’ve also been able to add a financial contribution to this.
