The Pro Challenge replacement, now called the Colorado Classic, will debut August 10-13 as a four day race.
The race, organized by Ken Gart and David Koff, is to be modeled on past races, the Coors Classic, Pro Challenge, and Red Zinger.
It will include Coors Classic style criteriums to appeal to the crowds as well as some Pro Challenge type stages. And a new feature will be 6-man teams that will race 300 miles in circuits that start and finish in the same place.
There will be 18 domestic and international teams, as well as a women’s race which will be August 10 – 11 in Colorado Springs and finish in Denver.
August 11 will see the men racing in Breckenridge on stage 2. Stages 3 and 4 will start and finish in the Denver RiNo Art District.
More details about entertainment, routes and public participation will be announced as they are finalized. They are also in the process of getting television coverage.
