The Sunday Times of Britain which is owned by Rupert Murdoch is suing Lance Armstrong for $1.5 million. They had paid Lance 300,000 pounds in 2006 which would now be about $485,000. Armstrong had sued them for printing part of an article in 2004 from a book alleging Armstrong had taken performance enhancing drugs.
In their paper they wrote to Armstrong’s lawyers: “It is clear that the proceedings were baseless and fraudulent…Your representations that you hd never taken performance enhancing drugs were deliberately false.” The total claim against Armstrong is expected be more than $1.5 million pounds. “The Sunday Times is now demanding a return of the settlement payment plus interest, as well as its costs in defending the case.”
