Still two weeks to go for Colombia Coldeportes calendar, and Claudio Corti’s guys are still looking to be protagonists in the final events of this debut season on routes that could suit the Escarabajos’ qualities.
“It’s good to see our riders are still so motivated – Sports Director Valerio Tebaldi said – the riders who went to the Worlds are willing to leave their mark before the season is over, while their teammates used the 9 days without racing to make some good focused training with Sports Director Oliverio Rincon: they are aware of the importance of this season finale, and they are looking forward to it.”
Milano-Torino and Giro del Piemonte – taking place September 26th and 27th respectively – will lead to the most anticipated late-season race, Saturday September 29th’s Giro di Lombardia. Both Esteban Chaves and Fabio Duarte will get back in action in Italy after the World Championships in the Netherlands: Duarte suffered a bad crash in Limburg, but x-rays showed a bad contusion to his left wrist, but no fractures.
At Milano-Torino, Sports Director Tebaldi will lead a 8-man line-up looking to show their climbing skills on the Superga climb: Darwin Atapuma, Robinson Chalapud, Esteban Chaves, Fabio Duarte, Felipe Laverde, Dalivier Ospina, Jarlinson Pantano and Michael Rodriguez.
Tebaldi will be back in the team car the following day for a tough Giro del Piemonte, that could leave way to some surprising moves: climbers and attackers will match to form the line-up for the Italian semiclassic. Here are the 8 men for Colombia Coldeportes: Darwin Atapuma, Robinson Chalapud, Fabio Duarte, Javier Gonzalez, Wilson Marentes, Dalivier Ospina, Carlos Julian Quintero and Jeffry Romero.
