The Denver Post reported today that a bill has been introduced into the legislature to allow cyclists “safety stops”.
The bill would allow bicyclists and electrically assisted bicycles to slow to a reasonable speed, yield to vehicles and pedestrians and proceed through the intersection. This would include right turns on red.
The law is modeled after one in Idaho that seems to haved worked well for the past twenty years.
There are already some towns that allow this. There are those opposed to the proposed law and others in favor.
