Critérium Du Dauphiné 2022
Van Aert Bounces Back to Victory in a Thriller

Chaintré, Thursday, June 9th 2022 – “I love to win”, Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) claimed on Wednesday, and so he did on Thursday, in Chaintré, after a thrilling finale to cap off stage 5 of the Critérium du Dauphiné, covered at blazing speeds.

The Belgian star, narrowly beaten in the past three days after he dominated the first sprint, got the best of Jordi Meeus (BORA-hansgrohe) with a minimal margin after the attackers were caught inside the last 100 metres! Ethan Hayter (Ineos Grenadiers) rounded out the podium. The 10 bonus seconds see Van Aert increase his lead in the overall standings ahead of the final three stages.
