Arnaud Démare (Groupama – FDJ) won Stage 7 of the 103rd Giro d’Italia, 143km from Matera to Brindisi. Peter Sagan (Bora – Hansgrohe) and Michael Matthews (Team Sunweb) finished second and third, respectively.

João Almeida (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) retains the Maglia Rosa and leads the general classification.

It was Demare’s third win of this Giro on a very windy day. There was a tailwind and many crashes.
It’s now 3 for France with Demare and 2 for Italy with Ganna and Ulissi.
The race started from ancient Matera, Italy that dates back to Neolithic times.
