Eric Boyer, former teammate of Greg LeMond on the Z Team in the 1990s has been sacked as Cofidis team manager. He’d been managing the team since 2005. Lack of results was given as the reason for his ouster. He’s been replaced by Yvon Sanquer who has been the director sportif of Festina, Astana and FDJ-BigMat. Boyer helped revive the Cofidis team following doping scandals and had good wins with Chavanel and Dumoulin in 2008. Team management was said to be unhappy that some riders defected to other teams and his supposed inability to mange their contracts. But rumors are that François Migraine, head of team sponsorship, was actually negotiating the contracts behind Boyer’s back.
