The Basque Euskatel team has not been able to find a new sponsor and has told its cyclists they’re free to look for new teams. The announcement was made at the start of the race in San Sebastian and that it would be their last race in their home region. The team hasn’t been doing well enough.
Contributing to the problems is the economic situation of the Spanish phone company. The team needs 7 million euros to function and the company can’t afford it now.
Movistar would be the only remaining Spanish Continental Pro team.
