Time trial world champion Ganna attacked uphill in one of the longest stages of the Giro.
The winner of the fifth stage of the Giro d’Italia, Filippo Ganna, recounted the emotion of his triumph after the arrival, in front of microphones: “I’m not a climber, on the last climb everyone shot in front of me “.
“I didn’t even have to break away today, I had to act as a support. It’s a great satisfaction for the team that wanted to redeem Geraint’s loss. He suggested that I attack, I listened to him.”
It rained much of the day, making for watchful conditions.
Early break with Ganna
