Filippo Ganna World Champion

Individual Pursuit World title and Italian record for the 19-year-old talent and long-time Northwave rider at the Track World Championships in London. Swiss Claudio Imhof claimed the bronze medal in the Scratch race.

A “silver green” flash passed by in the Lee Valley VeloPark in London (Great Britain). On Friday March 4th, in the evening session of the Track World Championships (March 2nd-6th), the Italian colors returned on the highest step of Individual Pursuit’s podium, thanks to a rising star of the Northwave green-line, Filippo Ganna.

Equipped with Northwave Extreme shoes, the 19-year-old from Piedmont, amazed everyone with outstanding performances, managing to see off German Domenic Weinstein in the decisive clash for gold. Third place for Brit Andrew Tennant ahead of countryman Owain Doull.

Fourth in the Team Pursuit – together with Italy’s teammates Elia Viviani, Michele Scartezzini, Liam Bertazzo, Francesco Lamon and Simone Consonni, the latter two equipped by Northwave with Extreme Aero shoes – the Team Colpack rider clocked 4:16.127 in the elimination round, new National record, repeating the amazing performance in the final with 4:16.141.

On Wednesday March 2nd, in the opening day of the World Championship, Swiss Claudio Imhof, equipped by Northwave claimed the bronze medal in the Scratch race, behind winner, Spain’s Sebastian Mora, and Mexican Ignacio Prado.
