The Tribunal of Nanterre issued an arrest warrant in January for Landis which was valid only for France.
The French prosecutor in Nanterre looking into claims that Floyd Landis hacked into the AFLD (French Anti Doping Agency) computers to try and change the data in his doping case has recommended an 18 month suspended sentence. Landis was not present at the trial for economic reasons.
Landis’ coach, Arnie Baker, was also absent from the trial. The prosecutor asked for the same penalty for Baker who he believes ordered the hacking.
They are believed to have contracted Alain Quiros from Kargus Consultants. He’s suspected of hacking computer systems and stealing documents for many clients, including Landis. He’s accused of hacking into the computer of former campaign director of Greenpeace, Yannick Jadot on behalf of the French energy firm EDF. The prosecutor requested a prison sentence of 3 years, 30 months suspended sentence and probation, together with a fine of 1.5 million euros against the two former security officials of the EDF Group.
The hacking released a computer virus which infected the lab’s system. The lab said documents had been removed or changed.
Quiros is reported to be held accountable also for breaking into the systems of Luxembourg firms Eurolux and Heine, who allegedly intervened in doubtful commission payments for the sale of submarines to Pakistan in 1994. This information led to a bigger investigation for presumed corruption, which currently involves several persons close to French president Nicolas Sarkozy.
